Rama Navami is a widely celebrated Hindu festival which marks the ninth day of Chaitra Navaratri. Rama Navami or Ramnavmi marks the birthday of Lord Rama, Vishnu’s seventh of the Dashavatar. Ram Navami Tithi this year falls on April 4, 2017. The birth of Shri Ram in Ayodhya is observed with grand processions and celebrations wherein devotees of Lord Ram worship the almighty in the Puja Shubh Muhurat Time and chant mantras to remember Shri Ram. Ram Navami falls on the ninth day of the spring festival, Chaitra Navaratri. The seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu was created on this day during the bright half of Shukla Paksha or bright half of the lunar calendar, in the month of Chaitra. Ram Navami is seen as a festival of moral reflection for many Hindus. The faithful begin the day with puja, bhajan and kirtan in the name of Lord Rama. Although the festival is named after Lord Rama, the festival reflects on Rama, Sita, Lakshmana as well as Lord Hanuman. Rama Navami is widely celebrated in the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh. People in Nepal also celebrate this day with great enthusiasm.
